NANCY WISSINK lives in Lincoln, Nebraska, with her husband and two teenage children (all of whom are an inspiration for many of her stories). She is a medical assistant and works in the health office of a grade school; therefore, she has the summers off to enjoy both writing and catching up on reading.

                                                      on behalf of harold

Harold - Harry as his family and friends knew him - was a hard working man. He was never idle a day in his life and never missed work in 42 years at the factory.

He also never missed a day of drinking with his buddies after work, nor would he pass up a card game or a game of pool if there were money at stake. Also it seems he very seldom missed a day of hitting his wife of 30 years when he came home late and she would ask him where he had been.

His loving and deeply devoted wife Marion stayed with him because of the children, plus he brought home the paycheck that paid the bills.

Unfortunately the needs that he filled were only monetary.

Harold leaves behind a daughter that in her teens became promiscuous and thus he also leaves behind a grandson. The daughter, Cynthia has a well paying job, thanks to her father, as a prostitute.

He also leaves behind a son; William who has followed in his father’s footsteps and unfortunately cannot be with us today as he is drowning his sorrow with his best friends Jack Daniels and Jim Beam.

I am here today on behalf of Harold James Smith; he wanted me to tell you who the real Harold was, not the Harold you thought you knew.

He was a drunken, no good son-of-a-bitch, and a loathsome excuse for a man.

Let us pray. ...
